Diva Garners Two Odyssey Grants For Long and Short-Form Programming

February 14, 2012
NEW YORK CITY — Diva Communications is pleased to announce the receipt of two 2012 Odyssey Networks grants for its upcoming work with leading Jewish organizations, The New York Board of Rabbis and the National Center for Jewish Learning and Leadership (CLAL).
Diva will partner with the New York Board of Rabbis to create an hour-long documentary highlighting how faith communities have stepped into the breach in this era of diminished healthcare. This project continues in the footsteps of Diva’s past work examining the inclusion of persons with disabilities into faith communities (A Place for All), faith’s response to intimate partner violence (I Believe You), and hunger in America from a faith perspective (A Peace of Bread).
Diva’s work with the National Center for Jewish Learning and Leadership will go in a slightly different direction. Building on the short form videos they have successfully created for mobile apps including Call on Faith, Diva will produce a series of five short videos starring author and radio host, Rabbi Irwin Kula.
Rabbi Joseph Potasnik, Executive Vice President of the NYBR, and Rabbi Kula, co-President of CLAL, are both very excited to be working on these new projects, which offer spiritually-based perspectives on vital social issues and use new technologies to address traditional aspects of faith.
The New York Board of Rabbis is the primary forum for rabbis within New York’s diverse rabbinical community. The National Jewish Center for Learning and Leadership (CLAL) is a leadership training institute, think tank and resource center.
Diva Communications, Inc., a three-time Emmy award winning programming and production company, headed by Debra Gonsher Vinik and David Vinik, specializes in the creation of video for broadcast, cable, internet and marketing purposes.
